Paul Chin's forthcoming album And Under Heaven We Are All Made Of Water, has been given a second visual companion in the form of a new music video for Hype Industrial Complex. The single, which has already been supported by Exclaim!, Apple Music, and TCY Radio on Tokyo's Block FM, is a fiery anthem for the Black and marginalised creators upon whose cultural cache and influence is extracted for profit, while they go ignored.
Directed by Katerina Zoumboulakis, the video also features portraits of Toronto creative icons Cola H, Witch Prophet, Vonny Lorde, Sydanie, TRP.P, Clairmont The Second, and Shad.
Artist's Note from Paul Chin
I intentionally wanted to put these artists I love front and centre in my music video because I thought it was important to be clear that I am talking about specific people whose lives, hearts, and livelihoods are impacted by the subject matter of this song. I wanted viewers to be able to gaze upon the faces of some of the invisible geniuses whose impact they take for granted. I only wish I could have wrangled more of them for shoot dates.
