In the wake of Beyoncé and fellow Toronto artist Drake releasing their own dance projects, heralding a reclamation of electronic music for Black artists at the highest heights of the industry, Chin delivers his own complementary offering in his full-length debut And Under Heaven We Are All Made Of Water, which exhibits the forward-thinking sonic ambition of the underground as he explores themes of Afrofuturism, equity, and renewal; reflecting on what it means to be a co-habitant of the planet we all live on.

Opening up pre-orders for the album, Chin releases it’s second single Hype Industrial Complex; a booming transcript of the experience of originators and tastemakers navigating an industry run by those who love Black art more than they love Black artists. A rare vocal appearance from Chin himself, the Polaris-nominated producer steps out from behind the boards and onto the mic to detail the highs and the lows of creating within a machine often more concerned with optics and marketability than cultural significance. Channeling the sonic imagination of some of his earliest inspirations, The Neptunes, Chin crafts one of the most futuristic beats in his catalogue, tinged with an analogue finish, then proceeds to skate on it with a lyrical cocktail of equal parts humour, frustration, and optimistic swagger.

And Under Heaven We Are All Made Of Water will be available at digital marketplaces, streaming services, and on vinyl on February 22nd, 2023.  Pre-save now to get Hype Industrial Complex: https://paulch.in/andunderheaven.OPR
