In the two years since his critically acclaimed Full Spectrum EP, Chin has been further crystallising his exploratory sound, and storytelling with this full-length debut. The project also demonstrates a continuation of his gift for curating features. Chin enlists turntablism luminary Kid Koala to trade scratches on club banger Birdcalls; he links up with R&B and vocal jazz scion Madison McFerrin to tackle the billionaire class’ ego-fuelled space race on Brand New Moon; and the album’s two-part titular finale invites LA/Tokyo-based producer and guitarist Go Yama to lay down a meditative bed of guitars, leading to an explosive culminating thesis by London grime phenomenon Manga Saint Hilare. He even gets on the mic himself for Hype Industrial Complex to deliver a half-joking/half-serious account of his frustrations with the music industry’s flip-flopping relationship with Black artists.

Chin’s debut is a contemplation on what the culture of "the club" could mean in the future as the shared experience of nightclubs and concert venues return to us. These spaces have historically represented realms of escapism from the complexities of our real lives – diverting our attention to fantasies of opulence and freedom from our vulnerabilities to a capitalist imperialist society. But as these spaces return, having survived an era that's revealed the many ways these systems have made us vulnerable (and having done so largely in isolation), Chin has crafted hymns for the sacred space for those of us longing for new ways of processing these complex realities.
